Volunteers are needed for the upcoming North American Butterfly Association butterfly count at Occoquan Bay on July 1, starting at 8:00AM. No previous experience is required, and beginners will be grouped with more experienced volunteers. This is a great opportunity to learn more about local butterfly species, enjoy some lovely summer weather, and give back by volunteering.
We’re on outer edge of your butterfly circle in Bryans Road, Charles County, MD, 2616, (east side of Potomac at mouth of Pomonkey Creek.) Would we participate in the count with you? We also do a lot of our butterfly counting just outside your circle. Occoquan Bay is a long drive for us. Is it a requirement that you only count at Occoquan Bay
Thank you for your help.
Hi Carrie,
I’m sorry I am just seeing your question today. Anyone is welcome to join the counts, but they must take place within a specified area. The next count is September 10th. Audubon Society of Northern Virginia organizes them. Here is a link for information about the September 10th count:https://www.audubonva.org/asnv-events/naba-butterfly-count-230910
Thank you for your comment!
