Earth Sangha seeks part-time office manager

Want to put your office skills to work protecting forests and meadows? The Earth Sangha seeks a part-time Office Manager to support their office. The Office Manager will be responsible for the various day-to-day tasks that make a small nonprofit run. These tasks include, but aren’t limited to: database management (Filemaker), data entry (Excel), mailings (stuffing envelopes and labeling), basic accounting (Quickbooks), invoicing, updating their email list, event preparation, and answering phones. The Office Manager will be based at the Earth Sangha office (5101 Backlick Road, Suite I, Annandale VA 22003) with occasional work at the Wild Plant Nursery (6100 Cloud Drive, Springfield VA  22150).
No relevant degree/certification necessary, but candidates should have a strong interest in conservation, public service, and have experience in office administration. Hours: Up to 900 hrs./year. Hours vary. 15-30 hours per week. Some nights, weekends and holidays required. Note: This is a temporary seasonal position, March-November.


Assists with maintenance of 600+ acres of natural and cultural resource based parkland including grounds and trails.
Assists with gardening of kitchen, orchard and landscape gardens.
Maintenance and Janitorial duties in public facilities.
Performs safety and security tasks.
Work with paid and volunteer staff on special projects.
Qualifications: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a GED issued by a state Department of Education. Must be eligible to work in Virginia, possess a Social Security card, and have access to reliable transportation. Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds. Ability to spend extended periods of time standing, walking, and ability to traverse rough and uneven terrain to inspect remote park areas. Must be able to work in varying weather conditions.

Certificates and Licenses Required: Driver’s license with good driving record. First Aid/CPR/AED certification (provided by Fairfax County).

Job opening: Huntley Meadows Park E-Status Naturalist

Part-Time: 1560 hrs/year
$14.50 – $15.00/hour Benefits eligible*

Location: Huntley Meadows Park and Historic Huntley located in Alexandria Virginia.
Over 1500 acres of forest, meadow and wetland habitat.
Instructor Description: Plan, design and present interpretive programs in natural and
cultural history and science topics for age groups ranging from preschool to adults
(preschool aged children on a regular basis). Groups can include: school groups, scout
groups, general public, thematic class series, birthday parties, camps, wagon rides,
events and special request programs. Responsible for RecDynamics functions.
Front desk, administrative, manager on duty, historic house tours, animal care and other
variable jobs included.
Hours: Variable. Hours will include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and
Preferred Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a
bachelor’s degree in natural, life, or physical sciences, natural history, education or a
closely related field and six months experience creating and presenting interpretive
programs for children aged 2-5 years old. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally
and in writing. Ability to deal effectively with citizen inquires and questions.
Note: *Individuals in these positions are eligible for limited employee benefits,
including medical, vision and dental insurance coverage, and participation in flexible
spending programs, but are not eligible to earn leave or receive holiday pay. This
position cannot exceed 1,560 hours per calendar year.
